Birthdays

I turned 32 a few weeks ago.  Just like New Year's Eve or the beginning of the school year, my birthday inspires me to reflect on the year's past. Nearly a year ago, my husband and I began a journey full of turns, uphill climbs, and endless questions.  We left a city that we called home for ten years, began new jobs, and welcomed our first child.  When we began to put all of these wheels into motion, I was thrilled by the prospect of such immense change.  I was not phased by the challenges that would be presented until, well, we were in the thick of it.  I started this blog with the intention of sharing the things I savor.  This year has truly tested me to savor the big & small while swimming in such a sea of change.  It made me want to return to this blog - to this idea - of collecting and curating sources of inspiration. At times, this will unfold through interviews with people who have found true fulfillment through their professional pursuits.  At other times, it will manifest as the simple pleasures we find through life's moments, whether that be found through a craveable sandwich, a letterpress card found in your mailbox, or the cool ocean air you experience in a trip to Maine.

As I mentioned earlier, I became a mama this year.  Mamahood has been the most wild and incredibly rewarding adventure - one in which days feel unbelievably long at times but weeks and months pass with the blink of an eye.  Amidst tears for which I had no cure and sleepless nights, I regained a true appreciation for life's simplicities, such as taking a shower without any distraction or doting upon a sleeping babe.

I am not an expert.  I am just a gal who thinks that finding fulfillment everyday is a worthy goal, one that admittedly escapes me sometimes.  But, when it does elude me, I hope this blog helps to remind and reinvigorate me {and maybe you too}.
